Castle legends
The Walled-Up Man
One of Lipnice's best-known legends tells of a man found immured inside the castle walls. According to local tradition, a walled-up skeleton was discovered during renovations, sparking tales of betrayal, punishment, or a secret that was meant to stay hidden forever. Guides at the castle often point out the spot where the remains were found.
The White Lady
Like many Czech castles, Lipnice is said to be visited by a White Lady — the ghost of a noblewoman who wanders the chambers in times of trouble or before important events. Some visitors claim to have seen a pale figure in the castle windows after dusk.
The Castle Treasure
Stories persist that the Trčkové family hid a fortune somewhere in the castle before losing their estate. Over the centuries, treasure hunters have searched the cellars and passages, but the gold — if it ever existed — has never been found.
